If you haven't been to the Western Stock Show this year…you don't know what your missing. I realize that cow patties and hay isn't for everyone, but energy level and excitement at this years events is amazing.  If you've never been to see Bull Riding…you haven't truly experienced excitement. The men & women that participate in customary events for the Stock Show are hard core. Your not going to see "cowboy" want to be's here. Hard falls, dangerous animals and dedication is what makes up this crew of participants.  If something a little less physical is to your liking, I would recommend you attend next years "Grand Prix". It is far more civilized an event that consist of horses clearing jumps that look intimidating even from the grand stands. I do advise you to get tickets early for next years event though, great seats can really make the event that much better.  Honestly there is something for everyone at the Stock Show. On the second floor of the complex there is an entire floor dedicated to children. There you will find games, petting zoos, face painting and interactive booths for kids. Every little cowpoke should have the chance to get their boots dirty once in a while.  Now please don't confuse the Denver Western Stock Show with the Colorado State Fair…it's not all corndogs, fried pies and fried Twinkies.  I actually had one of the tenderest pieces of prime rib known to man at the Stock Show. If you've ever heard someone say "it cut like a hot knife thru butter"…well, that was how moist and perfectly cooked my piece of meat was…it was soooooooooo yummy! A word to the wise, don't wait till after 5:00 to get in line…go a little early and enjoy dinner before the lines starts forming for a table.  As for parking, the cheapest lot we found was $8.00 and honestly was very close to the Event Center. But if you don't want to walk even a little…the lot has a service that will take you to the front door and back to your car at the end of the evening. Don't fall for the guys that want to charge you $15.00 and tell you the "other" lots are $30.00…you know what I say "if it looks like crap & it smells like crap…then it's probably CRAP".  You still have a couple of days left till this years Western Stock Show is over. So hop in the car and motor to I-70 & Washington and enjoy a wonderful event for the entire family. Pet a cow, smell a pig or even see a couple of dog tricks…you won't be disappointed.  Written by Kim Olson Realtor - Real Estate of the Rockies Belle Maison Marketing Writer - TheDenverSource.Com  |

If you live in Denver Colorado and are considering putting your home on the market in 2009, consider yourself fortunate. Although we hear on a daily basis how devastatingly bad the housing market is across the nation, things are a little different for us here in the Denver Metroplex. I’m not saying that Buyers are beating down the doors at their local real estate office for an opportunity to buy a home, but our housing market is considered “stable” in most areas and values are even on the increase in others. Many of you may not have realized, that Denver really felt the brunt of the foreclosure impact over three years ago when Colorado was listed as the #1 market for homes in distress. So, how can you get top dollar for your home in the current housing market? The number one recommendation that I make to my clients is to hire a “proven” Home Stager. As Home Sellers, if you’re not interested in investing in “updating” parts of your property…then staging your home is a necessity. I have literally seen my listings after proper home staging sell for “Top Dollar” in their neighborhoods in as little as 26 days on the market (2008). It is no secret that everyone is cutting back on their spending, but if you’re truly “on the market”, this is not an area that you want to pinch a penny. The cost of home staging is entirely based on the condition of the property being staged. If the home simply needs a little “redefinition” then your cost could be as little as $300-$500, but if the home reflects the ambiance of a museum…then your fee may be closer to a few thousand dollars. If you would like to hear more about who I recommend for Home Staging , shoot me an email at
